I promised ages ago to stop being a pupa, a nymph, a bag of organs,
when conditions became favorable for my maturation.
I’ve just blown up a quarry, given birth to a child, bitten a horse’s legs,
licked a plate, mended a sack, locked a woman away, put on an eye, vomited ectoplasm, abandoned my family, massacred my enemies, been crushed by something enormous…
Now I am devoted to the intangible thickness of emotions.
And this drowsiness is a state of permanent dusk. I travel through a gradient, shifting from one tone to another driven by a will that does not belong to me, that is shared, like music at a party, or a catastrophe.
Lying on my back in a channel as wide as the senses themselves, which sometimes rocks me and sometimes drags me, I see scattered colorful luminescences, soft columns, spirals and stains. Beneath the current, their refraction is spectral.
I am immersed in this dance, with its waves, its pits and its ripples. Every event reverberates in my eyes and in my viscera.
Gasping violently, I lose myself in the vaporous sentimental flow.
If I could control this limited portion of matter that shelters me, would I be less permeable to these affections?
